I am originally from Richmond, Virginia and completed my nursing undergraduate degree from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. After working for several years in medical-oncology and high-risk pregnancy in the hospital setting, I served as a Captain in the Air Force where I was stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. In the Air Force I worked on the labor and delivery unit and level II nursery. I then moved to Wenatchee, WA with my husband John, a Spokane native, where I again worked in the labor and delivery and newborn unit.
I grew up on woody acreage in Woodinville, Washington. There was a year round stream flowing through our property, artesian spring water, and five ponds filled with fish, eels, and frogs. My street was named Little Bear Creek Road -- do you see where we got our clinic name? I spent my entire childhood roaming forests and gardens, jumping from trees via rope swings, building secret forts in the forest, picking wild huckleberries, and exiting a high tree fort via zip line. Had there been American Ninja Warrior at that time, I would have enrolled.
In 1998, I began working at Seattle Children’s Hospital as a Registered Nurse. I knew immediately that working with children was my passion. While attending the University of Washington, I chose to pursue the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Master's program, because the focus was entirely pediatrics. I did each of my 8 clinical rotations in primary care clinics around Seattle. In addition to primary care, I worked as a Registered Nurse at Seattle Children’s Hospital in the areas of oncology, medical and surgical units, and the Emergency Department. I also did volunteer medical work with homeless youth in Seattle.
I began working as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in 2002 at the Children’s Clinic in Portland, Oregon. I worked there for 4 years and received excellent mentor-ship with a large group of physicians. Since moving to Spokane, I have worked at several pediatric primary care clinics, prior to the opening of Bear Creek Pediatrics. As of 2020, I have over 22 years of working in pediatrics!
I am married and have three children, two cats, and a beehive. My family spends a good amount of time involved in soccer, along with school and church activities. Additionally, I enjoy biking, travel, gardening, and reading. In fact, roaming the library to bring home an armload of books might be one of my favorite self-care activities! If you ever need recommendations on books for kids of any age, just ask!
I truly love every age and stage of childhood development! I strive to provide excellent healthcare guidance and treatment for children and families. I am Board Certified as a Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, and as a Pediatric Primary Care Mental and Behavior Health Specialist.
I grew up in southern California. After high school, I spent six years in the United States Air Force. My two favorite places I was stationed were South Korea and Spokane. Once I separated from the Air Force, I decided to stay in Spokane and build a life here. I now have a beautiful son named Kenneth.
In my free time, you can find us outside at a park or hiking a trail. I love working with kids on and off the clock!
I have lived in Spokane my whole life and am a graduate of Shadle Park High School where I graduated with high honors. I participated in varsity cross country and track where I served as team captain my senior year. I am a proud momma bear to two young kiddos, Keenan and Hollyanna. They are my little joys.
When I am not at work loving your kiddos, me and mine are usually outside enjoying the world no matter the weather. Some of our favorite activities include; running/hiking, disk golfing, crafty projects from things we find in nature, and of course long walks with our wagon.
I was born in southern California, moving to southern Idaho in 1992 and northern Idaho in 2000. My husband and I have been married for 14 wonderful years. Together we have 3 children. I fell in love with coding while I was in college. I enjoy how each day is an adventure in the ever changing insurance world.
When I'm not working, I love to get outdoors to hike, camp, boat, and just plain relax. In the winter months my family and I watch alot of movies, play games and read books!
I grew up in Washington and have lived here most of my life, with a few stints in Oregon, Utah, Missouri, England, and Australia. I have a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Brigham Young University, which is where I met my husband. We have been happily married for over 20 years and are the parents of 5 boys, ranging in age from pre-teen to young adult. Our house is full of noise, Star Wars, junk food, and love.
When I'm not working, doing laundry, cooking, or cleaning, you can find me rearranging furniture or curled up with a blanket reading.
